Looking for Alumni wanting to get reconnected by serving on a committee vital to the lifeblood of Leadership Charlotte.
I am looking for interested LC Alumni to serve on the PROGRAM COMMITTEE for this year. We will meet about once a quarter and there are two ways that you can plug in.
1) We will have one team that will work on programming strength and opportunity for the regular 10 month program. 2) Another task group will work on the new ENCOUNTER Charlotte program for Newcomers that we offered for the first time, over 2 days this past June.
Email or call me 704.553.9443 and so we can discuss further.
Looking forward to some great input and help with the PROGRAM COMMITTEE.

Class 29 just had their last class day.
You may see some comments from them in this blog very soon. Next up: the closing retreat! Wish them well!
Do you remember your last few times with your class? How did you feel? What was on your mind as you closed out your program year? What did you learn from your classmates? What did you learn about Charlotte? |

Alumni,
April is national volunteer month. With what volunteer initiatives are you involved?
We have a list of some opportunities under our Alumni: Community Service page. For example, our newest opportunity is pretty cool: Did you know that the Olympic Trials are being held at the US National Whitewater Center? They need volunteers! Here's how to find out more: http://www.leadershipcharlotte.org/alumnicommunity.html
Have a volunteer opportunity you would like to share? Send it to us by completing the form under Alumni Updates online: http://www.leadershipcharlotte.org/alumniupdates.html |

sorry i missed the last alumni event, but Elizabeth it sounds like your comments are exactly the sort of thing I am looking for in reconnecting with LC alum and classmates. The purpose will come out from the conversations and reconnection -- excellent. Look forward to reconnecting! |

This is great. This is doing it differently.
What if the conversation was the real value add and what comes naturally out of the conversation is where the action is????
This is very powerful and very freeing. All we would need to do is create spaces and opportunities for the alumni to gather and they can take it from there. This de-centralized approach is the way of the future. |

Hello from the Leadership Charlotte offices!
We had a terrific alumni event Saturday, March 8: 30 attendees, great conversation, wonderful ideas and some specific ways to move forward with alumni engagement.
Along this same theme, I had an opportunity to be a participant in a similar type of conversation later that week. An important point made was: what if the outcome was the conversation. That is, what if our point for gathering was to create a space for dialogue and connections to be made and anything that needed to "get done" would issue forth from those connections. We seemed so focused on making sure something gets done at the end of a meeting, yet...so many of us are clamoring just for the chance to talk to each other in real conversation.
Maybe we can consider how we might "do it differently?" Maybe outcomes aren't for a large group but for that small group of individuals that Margaret Mead talked about.
What do you think? I'd love to know... |
